Logo design for charity: Sport Sister Community

When Natalie Doyle posted in the Doing it for the Kids Circle Community looking for a logo design for her new charity, plenty of talented designers put their names forward. So it was a real joy when she chose me for the project.

Natalie already had a logo for Sport Sister, but this brief was for Sport Sister Community – a charity she was setting up to support young girls through sport. The two logos needed to work together as part of one brand family. But for the charity, Natalie wanted something softer, less corporate, and more appealing to its younger audience.

Creating a playful, youth-friendly brand

I designed three concepts for Natalie to choose from. She liked them all, but two quickly became favourites. After a chat about the strengths of each option, she picked the one you see above.

This version uses only elements from the original Sport Sister logo – but reimagined in a new way. Bouncing letters add a sense of energy and movement, while keeping things playful. The two silhouette figures from the original design were kept to maintain a visual link and create balance.

To soften the look and add personality, we used a handwritten typeface for the word community. This small change made the logo feel more warm, welcoming, and human – perfect for a charity working closely with young people.

Designed with future use in mind

The chosen logo also opens the door to animation – ideal for video content or social media. That extra bit of flexibility gives the brand more ways to connect with its audience as it grows.
